The Technical University "Gheorghe Asachi" of Iasi (TUIASI) is the most important higher education institution for technical studies in north-eastern Romania.

The Faculty of Industrial Design and Business Management (DIMA) of TUIASI deals with vocational education and training for the Romanian textile, clothing, leather and footwear industries. It has 70 teaching and research staff, as well as modern facilities for all study programs - 7 Bachelor's programs and 10 Master's programs. It has the only certified PhD program in textiles, clothing and footwear in Romania. It also provides support in the areas of technology transfer, research, consultancy and training. The Faculty is closely linked to the industry and over the years has established an effective network with the business community, while it aims to meet the urgent needs and expectations of today's Romanian economy and society: education and training at an international level; promotion of lifelong learning as a key requirement of the rapidly changing high-tech world; effective networking between universities and the business community.

The Faculty of Industrial Design and Business Management was founded in 1934 as the first textile faculty in Romania and, at present, includes 4 departments, a PhD school and a research center. The total number of students enrolled in the current year is 900, including BSC, Master and PhD. Currently, it is a member of the following professional associations and international academic networks: AUTEX - Association of Universities for Textiles, Belgium, CEEMAN - Central and Eastern European Management Development Association, Slovenia, EURATEX- European Apparel and Textile Confederation, Belgium.
