AUTEX2023 World Conference Completed
The AUTEX 2023 World Conference hosted by RMIT’s Centre of Materials Innovation and Future Fashion (CMIFF) at the School of Fashion and Textiles was held 26-29 June2023 in Melbourne, Australia.
The conference, which was delivered in a hybrid format, offered the opportunity to hear about the research being done in textile clothing science, technology, and design across the world, as well as the issues impacting these areas and the textile industry more broadly. It also provided opportunities for new collaborations, both for RMIT and the broader textiles community.
Across the 3 days, there were 3 plenary sessions, 7 parallel sessions that delivered 70 presentations, 18 poster presentations were displayed in The Hanger. Over 80 delegates from more than 20 countries attended to discuss research progress covering Advanced Materials, Wearable Technologies, Supply Chain/Sustainability, Biomaterials, and Future Fashion.
A number of international delegates and RMIT staff attended the conference dinner on the Tuesday evening at the Oxford Scholar, which offered further opportunities for discussion and potential future collaboration.
The conference concluded on Wednesday with closing remarks, via video from AUTEX President Savvas Vassiliadis, and a Welcome to AUTEX 2024 from the host country the Czech Republic.
The conference could not have been possible without the hard work of the RMIT AUTEX 2023 Organising Committee, the commitment and support from the School of Fashion & Textiles executive and the contribution from PG student volunteers.
