Ege University Department of Textile Engineering aims to graduate engineers who are internationally educated, modern, qualified, progressive, creative, responsible, ethical and communicative; who will be able to provide outstanding professional services and present the results of scientific research to the textile industry.
In the first two years, our students take basic science and engineering lectures. Then, according to their wishes and abilities, they decide to specialize in textile technology (yarns, weaving, knitting), textile chemistry and finishing or apparel manufacturing in the last two years. At the same time, they have the chance to make research on developing areas of textiles such as medical textiles, protective textiles, industrial textiles, nanotechnology, clothing comfort and composite materials.
Textile engineering is a branch of engineering that is in relationship with both production and control processes. For that reason, besides the theoretical lectures, the lectures are given practically in the pilot mills of yarn production, weaving, knitting, nonwoven, textile chemistry and apparel manufacturing. There are also physical and chemical textile testing, washing, knitting design and computer aided design laboratories in the department.
