Textile Engineering Department of Dokuz Eylul University was established in 1997. It is located in west coast of Turkey, Izmir. The Department is one of the notable textile engineering departments of Turkey with its well-organized structure in terms of education and science, and it has a respected academic staff that has a strong interaction with textile industry.

The mission of the department is to educate skilful graduate students having creative and imaginative solutions about engineering and industrial problems by maintaining a qualified education at national and international standards, and to contribute to science with research and development activities. BSc program of the Department has been accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs since September 2009. The Department was also awarded EURopean Accredited Engineer (EUR-ACE) Label to be valid during the accreditation period. Furthermore, in cooperation with various departments, Textile Engineering Department offers its students various double major and minor programs. In addition to BSc program, the department provides opportunities to qualified postgraduate students for further education at MSc and PhD level. Dokuz Eylul University Textile Engineering Department also provides testing, analysis and consulting services to researchers, institutions and industry with the aid of its experienced academic staff and well-equipped laboratories.

The department has also strong relations to worldwide network of textile universities. Academic staff join various international conferences/projects and collaborate with different universities. In addition, the department hosts international visiting researchers and organizes academic seminars. The department organizes International Technical Textiles Congress, one of the leading international event in Turkey since 2002, as a global forum to present and discuss recent innovations and new techniques in technical textiles. Dokuz Eylul University Textile Engineering Department also takes part in Erasmus+ international student exchange program. It has bilateral agreements with various universities all around European Union.
